Who Killed Him…

Who Killed Him…

While pondering my Lord’s crucifixion I feel compelled,
compelled that someone should be held accountable.

I mean this was such an injustice.

He was innocent of any wrong doing.

His trials were illegal.

He was taken in the dark of the night.

Betrayed with a kiss by someone
claiming to be a friend.

Had that betrayer not have done so wickedly,
had he not allowed Satan to beguile him
into such deceitfulness;
He would have awoken as the
sun rose in Gethsemane –
the beginning of another glorious day.

Cursed be that traitor – Judas!

But then I thought, it was the Jewish religious
leaders who took Him, they had sought
His death all along, mostly out of envy,
they so feared that the people
would follow Him, and that they would
lose their precious positions.

It was their golden opportunity, and they seized the moment.

So, without question they are to blame, it’s therefore
no wonder their plight has been so grievous through
the years, certainly they had it coming –
an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

Yes, surely it’s them deserving the blame,
cursed be the Jews!

Yet, when I think further of it, that was a
Roman cross, was it not?

Pilate, he was a Roman; he had the power to
just release Him – but did he?

No!  He had Him beaten and flogged.

His beard was ripped from His face as a
Roman cat of nine opened His flesh.

Mockingly, Pilate’s soldiers placed a
thorny crown upon His head,
“Look at the King of the Jews” they taunted.

Oh, sure Pilate washed his hands in some
menial gesture, as if that cleared
him of any guilt.

Pilate had the power to free Him, after all he had
said himself; He was guilty of no crime.

Pilate is without excuse, he gave them Barabbas
in His stead, they crucified the innocent
and freed the guilty, cursed be the Romans!

Then as they laid Him upon that cross; and “whack”
drove those nails into the flesh of His wrists,
His Blood began to flow ever more deeply.

Then mercilessly again, “whack” into His legs
as He now became as One with the wood.

Without hesitation I’m sure they lifted and
dropped the wooden pillar of death into
a waiting hole – “Thud,” as it slammed
into the ground; ripping His flesh
even further from the impact.

There He was, the Creator of the Universe,
bleeding profusely, beaten beyond recognition
by the Romans; handed over by His own people,
betrayed by a friend, but do you know who He saw?

Me!  All my sin, sin I had yet to commit,
though He knew I would – I was not yet even born.

Tears fall, He who sees the end from the beginning,
looked down the corridor of time; He saw my plight.

So very lost in my sin with no hope of
reconciliation, none apart from Him.

I know I wasn’t here yet – but I can hear it as it
comes from His lips, even now as I type, Him
whispering my name, Rocky it’s for you I died.

I’m the one that deserves to be cursed,
instead I’m blessed.

I deserve death,
yet He gives me life.

Is that fair?

No, far from it.

So you ask me,
why am I so big on grace?

Because I’m the one who’s guilty….
I killed Him

I killed Him by my sin!

This is a touching poem. As a Biblically based blog , I’m surprised, however, that this poem doesn’t mention that actually the righteous judgment of God play a part in his death. God “killed” Christ. God so loved than He gave… Isn’t that as true as any human instrumentality of His death?
    Just a thought…

  2. Dennis,
Thank you very much for your comment, as well as your insight that it was God the Father who actually took the life of His Son. Because if God is not all-powerful, controlling everything, then He’s not really God. The title God is a title of deity which by its very nature demands complete and utter control of the environment of which it is a master of (I speak generically, whereas specifically you and I know that it is the God of the Bible who is the true and only God in existence, all others are “god” with a little “g”).

It is unfortunate that you have not spend enough time on my website to see this teaching which I have presented many times.

Yet this poem which we are discussing, does not contradict this fact, it was a poem written by a friend of mine that points out the fact that the necessity of God killing His Son rest upon the sinful nature of man, and that as an individual, I am personally responsible for having contributed to the sin for which Christ died for.

If it was not for my sin, and God’s desire to save me, there would be no need for the sacrifice, for the propitiation (appeasement of God’s justice) mandating the atonement (the covering of man’s sin, by placing it upon another – wherein when God looks down upon the earth and sees man as he did in the garden, man is covered by the shedding of innocent blood as the animal skins were laid upon him – this is the idea of the mercy seat, on top of the altar within the holy of holies as well as the scene set in the garden of Eden. God did not simply forgive our sins as if they did not exist, this would be unrighteous. A righteous God demands punishment for violations rendered. What God did was take our sins and place them on Christ, so that now when he looks down from heaven he sees upon us the likeness of his son who paid for our sins in his precious blood, having the skin of his back torn open for us.)

You see this poem doesn’t contradict the fact that God is always in control – it is trying to teach people that we can’t blame others for the death of Christ, those individuals that God used as ponds; such as: Pontius Pilate, Herod, the Romans, the Jews, even the religious leaders of Christ’s time who orchestrated to have Him executed.

This is simply examining the issue of the crucifixion of Christ from a perspective that we are all accountable to God regarding what we do with the fact that Christ died for our sins. Everyone that goes to hell gets there because of their own behavior, and their lack of choosing the free grace (unmerited favor) that God has offered for our sins, which are accessible through faith (Ephesians 2:8).

However, if we want to look at another aspect of the crucifixion of Christ, it wasn’t merely God the Father who was in control and participated, it was actually all 3 Members of the Godhead; the Trinity as we have come to call them (please see the first link which gives the Scriptures for this).

Again, I thank you for your time in bringing the subject up because it made me aware that it was a good excuse to briefly speak again about the subject.

So on Friday morning at 6 AM, I am releasing a new article which is reprinting some of the issues concerning the Trinity’s involvement in the crucifixion of Christ.
You can see it now listed under the title: “Short & Sweet – Who Crucified Christ”, the link is:

    https://faithbibleministriesblog.com/2014/12/12/short-sweet-who-crucified-jesus-christ/

Yet, this was taken from a larger article entitled: “Salvation – What Is It & How to Obtain It (Notable Work)”, the link is:

    https://faithbibleministriesblog.com/2013/07/06/how-to-be-saved-2/

Perhaps you might look it over and tell me what you think.

You see we both agree that it is God the Father and His Will which was being fulfilled in Christ dying on the cross for our sins, yet it was The Son who gave His life, in the power of the spirit.
